Video Blog: CFS and ME Recovery – 3 types of anxiety

Welcome to this week’s video blog. For those of you in the UK we hope you’ve been enjoying the fantastic sun! We are really excited by our first video this week, as we believe it to be a really important insight on the psychology side of the clinic, presented by Alex and Sarah from our psychology team. Anxiety in ME, CFS and Fibromyalgia is something the clinic has talked about in considerable detail in the past, but this video explains the three different kinds of anxiety, which is a new clarification in the clinics model. This model has massive implications for what kind of treatments are going to be effective, and also supporting patients in calming their nervous systems in the most effective ways.

Our second video this week is the latest instalment from Alex and Sanna’s talk in Stockport earlier this year. In this video they talk about the maladaptive stress response in ME, CFS and Fibromyalgia and the role of mitochondrial malfunction.

Please do post you comments on our videos and share your thoughts, and the clinic team will do their best to answer them as well.

Video Blog: Relating to symptoms in ME and CFS

Welcome to this week’s video blog. Our first video this week is a very insightful perspective on relating to symptoms in ME and CFS. With some approaches encouraging ignoring symptoms, and other approaches teaching patients to let their symptoms dictate what they should and shouldn’t do, it can all get very confusing. In this video Alex and Sarah talk about why each of these approaches is at times unhelpful, and how to relate to your symptoms in the best way to support recovery.

Our second video is the latest instalment of Alex and Sanna’s talk in Stockport a few months ago. As always, please do comment on these videos and blog entries, we really do welcome your input.

Video Blog: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome CFS: Talk from the Optimum Health Clinic part 3

Welcome to this week’s video blog! Our first video this week is the first of our series of videos of cooking demonstrations. The first is with Alex and Lesley from our nutrition team demonstrating how to cook Quinoa which is a highly nutritious alternative to grains such as pasta and rice. In the video they explain why Quinoa is so good for you, explain how to cook it, and even demonstrate for you! It’s not quite Blue Peter, but it should hopefully get you inspired to have a go!

Our second video is the third part of Alex and Sanna’s talk in Stockport. In this instalment, Alex and Sanna outline some of the predisposing factors in ME and CFS and the subtypes on the nutrition side of the clinic. Please do continue to comment on our videos and blogs, we do our best to answer all questions, and it’s a great way of sharing your thoughts with other readers.

We still have a few places left on Conscious Transformation on 15-16 May. Alex will be fresh back from two back-to-back intensive retreats himself, so we are expecting an inspired and life changing weekend. Details at www.ConsciousTransformation.co.uk

Finally, we are still accepting applications for our professional training courses starting in June. These courses, apart from being truly transformational, are also a great stepping stone towards an immensely rewarding new career. Video Blog: The OHC vision for ME and CFS Recovery

Welcome to this week’s video blog. You may have noticed that our video blogs have been a little less frequent the past month. This has been because we have all been madly busy setting up our new Head Office in North London (same building, just more rooms!) and also recruiting some additional practitioners. We’ll let you know more about all of this soon!

For this week’s first video, we have part two of Alex and Sanna’s recent talk in Stockport. In this instalment, Alex and Sanna talk about why they believe that the goal should always be recovery rather than learning to live with being ill, along with the story behind the clinic, and its approach of researching and testing different treatments.

We are currently in the process of filming another series of videos, including some simple cooking demonstrations, a series around our treatments on the psychology side, and also a comprehensive series with a video about each symptom from both the psychology and nutrition perspective. So lot’s of exciting stuff on its way over the coming months!

For our second video, we have a video explaining about 15 minute chats, what they are, why we do them, and what you can expect with them. For those of you that have been thinking about finding out more about our treatments, but perhaps have been a bit confused of where to start, 15 mins chats are a great start.

Finally, there are still some places on Conscious Transformation with Alex on 15-16 May. This is the only time this seminar is running this year, and it truly is a life-changing experience – details at www.ConsciousTransformation.co.uk

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome CFS: Talk from the Optimum Health Clinic part 1

Welcome to this week’s video blog. Our first video this week is the introduction to Alex and Sanna’s talk in Stockport a few weeks ago. Although the video finishes on a bit of a cliffhanger, we promise to bring you the next part very soon! In the video, Alex talks about his own recovery story, why depression is the result of M.E. as opposed to the cause, and explains what really motivated him to search for answers to his own recovery from CFS and ME.

We have recently had some feedback that some of you would prefer to read rather than watch our video newsletters, so, we have started the process of transcribing them for you. The first transcript is from Alex and Anna’s video a few weeks ago about emotions and ME, and is available to read here.

We are also now taking applications for our professional training courses starting in June 2010. These courses are an amazing opportunity to accelerate your recovery path on the psychology side, whilst also open up future career opportunities. A short video explaining more about the courses, along with our prospectus and information for patients is available at www.TheOptimumHealthClinic.com/training We have a few spaces left for our early booking discount of nearly 1/3 off the courses, so please do e-mail alex@TheOptimumHealthClinic.com asap if you are interested in finding out more about the discount and getting any questions answered.

Finally, Alex’s life changing seminar Conscious Transformation is running again next month for the only time this year. You can read all about the seminar at www.ConsciousTransformation.co.uk and if you decide to join our professional training courses, you will additionally receive a free place.
