The Optimum Health Clinic Foundation is a new charity in the process
of being registered and set up.
The aims of the charity will be as follows:
-
To fund high quality research into integrative
health methods, specifically those that are currently under researched
-
As increasing evidence is established for integrative
health methods, to use this evidence to lobby for increased government
funding for further research and for effective treatment to made
available through the NHS
-
To investigate how orthodox approaches and “complementary”
approaches can work more closely together
-
To encourage appropriate regulation of “complementary”
approaches
Initial projects planned for 2009:
- A key objective of the charity is to drive more research into
integrative health through supporting researching in the area.
An initial plan of how to do this is through the financial assistance
of PhD students looking to do their thesis on integrative health,
specifically through contributing towards their tuition fees.
In many other areas of health there are considerable grants available,
but currently there are almost none for integrative health
- Supporting the use of trauma techniques such as EFT in trauma
zones like Indonesia. Last year, Anna Duschinsky (Director of
Psychology at the clinic) spent a month teaching these trauma techniques
to aid workers in areas affected by the Tsunami. This was funded
by private donations from friends and the clinic. The foundation
plans on helping fund future projects for Anna, and others doing
similar work.
- EFT and cancer research project. We are currently in talks with
The EFT Centre, a company that has a specialism in using EFT with
cancer, to undertake research into the effectiveness of this for
helping cancer victims deal with their situation.
A number of other projects are being considered, but this gives
you an idea of where we will be starting.
The Optimum Health Clinic Foundation
sponsored Snowdon Walk
Snowdonia National Park, Wales
June 6th 2009
The purpose of the event is to have FUN...meet new and old friends
and raise money for a worthy cause…
In order to plan for this event, it would help massively if you
could let Lisa@theoptimumhealthclinic.com know
as soon as possible if you would like to participate. As the date
edges ever closer, we will publish further details of the event.
The plan will be to meet on the morning of the walk, probably around
10:00am. A small briefing will be given by Nick Wealthall who is
organizing the walk (he also happens to be a policeman!), and then
we will then set off on our trepid expedition up England’s largest
mountain. The “stroll” will be low key with safety and enjoyment
being the primary objectives. Anyone wishing to race ahead and break
mountaineering records is more than welcome, but this will be a lonely
venture for them..!!!! There will be plenty of rest breaks and photo
opportunities along the way. Upon reaching the summit, we shall stop
again for photos, food, and take in the breath taking views. After
a break, we shall then start our descent as per our ascent, again
having loads of pit stops to re-fuel.
Once we reach the bottom, we shall do a head count…!!!!!!! And then,
head off to the hotel/hostel (depending upon your choice) to clean
up, and enjoy an evening meal as a group.
Participation is not only for those who want to walk up the mountain.
There is a train which ascends and descends the mountain, or if you
would sooner stay at the bottom and cheer us on, then fine…..
We need to know exact numbers for safety reasons and to arrange
accommodation and transport. The cost will be kept to a minimum,
so as soon as we know numbers we can look into transport and accommodation.
Sponsorship forms will be sent to those people wanting to take part
very soon.
IT MUST BE STRESSED AT THIS EARLY STAGE THAT ONLY THOSE PEOPLE WHO
DEEM THEMSELVES FIT AND HEALTHY SHOULD ATTEMPT TO CLIMB / WALK THE
MOUNTAIN.
